Balvaird Castle
Visit the ruin of Balvaird Castle a late 15th Century tower looked after by Historic Scotland. Opening times are limited so check in advance on 01786 431324.
Falkland Palace
Built by James IV and James V as a country residence, Falkland Palace and Gardens are well worth a visit. They are managed by the National Trust for Scotland.
Hill of Tarvit Mansionhouse and Gardens
This early 20th Century home was remodelled by Scottish architect Robert Lorimer in 1906. It houses French and Chippendale-style furniture, porcelain and paintings. The gardens, also designed by Lorimer, include a sunken rose garden, yew hedging and flowering borders. The property is managed by the National Trust for Scotland.
Loch Leven Castle
The castle is on a small island in Loch Leven and is accessible by boat. Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in the castle for a year.

Fife Coastal Path
The Coastal Path, completed in 2002, runs from Culross to the Tay Bridge. It can be walked in shorter sections, or tackled as a long distance route. The path suits all levels and passed through some wonderful sceenery.
Millenium Cycle Ways
Explore the Kingdom by bike. There is an extensive cycle network in Fife of some 300 miles. The cycle routes are on forest tracks, disused railway lines and quiet country lanes as well as commuter routes in town.
Vane Farm Nature Reserve
The reserve is part of Loch Leven National Nature Reserve and has trails both to viewing hides overlooking the wetlands and loch and also to the sumit of Vane Hill. The visitor centre has lots of information for visitors, an observation room, a cafe and an RSPB shop.
Lomond Hills Regional Park
Literally on our doorstep and Scotland's first regional park! The Lomond Hills are Fife's most prominent landmarks. The park has sites ranging from Craigmead Meadows (a SSI) to Coul Den reservoir.
